"... we all need to be on board..."

ICT FC 4-0 Dundee 14th May 2016

Caley Jags finished the season top of the bottom six after decisively beaten challengers for the spot, Dundee. It was level pegging with no scoring by half time, but things changed dramatically in the second half with four goals coming from the home side. Miles Storey broke the deadlock on 61 mins beating the offside trap and rounding Scott Bain before netting. Danny Devine scored at the back post after a corner on 69 mins. Ross Draper capitalised when Julen Etxabeguren lost possession on the edge of his box to fire home on 71 mins. Richie Foran came on and added a late penalty, on 84 mins, after Liam Polworth was tripped by Adam Black.

Manager John Hughes: "The standards I felt we've set were last year. I want to keep those standards, keep driving this club forward. Don't tell me that a provincial club like Inverness can't go and win the Scottish Cup again, can't go and get third, get Europe. I'll not accept that, that's the standards but we all need to be on board and keep driving it forward..."

"... we're delighted to win."

Hamilton Academical 0-1 ICT FC 11th May 2016

Caley Jags win the penultimate fixture for this season with a single goal on 41 mins. An Iain Vigur's free-kick was scrambled in by Danny Devine. Hamilton went down to ten men on75 mins when Darian Mackinnon was sent off.

Manager John Hughes: "It's all set up nicely, to finish with a win on Saturday and get that seventh spot... First-half, I felt we were very good, could have passed it quicker and better but we dominated the game. Second-half, I felt we sat back, hoping we could keep a clean sheet and even when they went down to ten men, we never really put a foot on the ball and passed it. Hamilton were galvanised going down to ten men and were the better team for the last 20 minutes, so we're delighted to win."

ICT FC 2-3 Dundee United 6th May 2016

Caley Jags went down three goals before edging back into the game, but their subsequent two goals were not enough to stop the ten men Tangerines getting their seventh win of the season. Simon Murray struck first on 6 mins and again on 46 mins, just before the break. Edward Ofere got United's third on 55 mins. Jordan Roberts cut the lead 1 min later. The lead was further eroded on 69 mins through Liam Polworth. Callum Morris was then sent off for a second yellow card on 78 mins. United managed to hold on despite this disadvantage and a very determined Caley Jags side.

Manager John Hughes: "I thought we were the better team but we just need to be more clinical with our passing and link-up play. It just needed to be quicker and sharper. To lose the third goal in the way we did gave us a massive task. We gave it a right good go and credit to them for that, but it was just too much. I thought their first goal was going to be the wake-up call we needed but we were just lacklustre. We got started in the second half but it was really too late. It is frustrating."

Partick Thistle 1-4 ICT FC 30th April 2016

Caley Jags ensured their Premiership safety when they overcame this season's bogey team, the other thistle. Carl Tremarco scored the only goal of the first half on 14 mins. Caley Jags edged further ahead at the start of the second half when Miles Storey scored in off the post on 46 mins. Josh Meekings joined the party on 76 mins with a third. Partick briefly cut the lead on 83 mins through Kris Doolan only to see it restored 2 mins later by Jordan Roberts.

Manager John Hughes: "To come here and win 4-1 knowing that Partick are a bit of a bogey team for us; all credit to the boys. To be honest it could have been more. I was looking for another two or three. Carl should be well up to eight or nine goals this year because he gets in on that back post and he just needs to learn how to finish... I don't usually single players out but him and Ross Draper were absolutely outstanding. Ross really drove the team forward, winning tackles and on the front foot and showing a spirit and determination that the rest of them just followed."

ICT FC 3-1 Kilmarnock 24th April 2016

Caley Jags fought back to claim three points after going a goal down in the first half. The advantage was reversed after Kilmarnock dropped down to ten men. Kallum Higginbotham put Killie ahead, just before the break, on 44 mins. Greg Tansey equalised from the spot on 53 mins after Ross Draper was pulled down by keeper Jamie MacDonald who was shown the red card for his intervention. Ross Draper put Caley ahead on 73 mins, tapping in from a corner that Killie failed to clear. Danny Williams' first goal of the season came on 76 mins to give Caley Jags a two goal lead that Kilmarnock could not erode before full time.

Manager John Hughes: "The sending-off certainly swung it in our favour. You feel for Kilmarnock and the player who made the mistake. They got hit with a triple whammy there. But it was good to capitalise on that... But sometimes you need to dig deep and all credit to the boys for that. I have seen us play better and quicker but it is a massive result for us."

ICT FC 0-0 Hearts 12th April 2016

Caley Jags had the opportunity to get to the top of the bottom six, with a win, but only managed a no score draw against Hearts. This leaves them in a precarious ninth place only eight points above second bottom Kilmarnock, who they meet next. Limited capability in the final third continues thwart the side's ambition to finish higher up the table.

Manager John Hughes: "If we had done the business against Motherwell, on top of the win on Saturday, that draw tonight probably would have got us in the top six. It just shows that fine line that you're walking. It wasn't a classic, the two teams cancelled each other out. We never penetrated enough, that final pass, combination link-up. It's another point hopefully towards seventh spot but we're going to have to do a lot better than that for the remainder of the season."

Dundee United 0-2 ICT FC 9th April 2016

Caley Jags had a comfortable win against relegation candidates Dundee United. They went ahead after 13 mins when Ross Draper found Miles Storey, in front of goal, who was then left with a simple tap in. Iain Vigurs doubled the lead on 50 mins with a long range shot from outside the box. United could not find their way back into the game and find themselves eight points adrift.

Manager John Hughes: "That one was for the supporters. The supporters have had a hard season... Absolutely delighted with the performance. When we get like that we're okay. It's the consistency of performance - we need that every week."

ICT FC 0-3 ICT FC 5th January 2016

Caley Jags all but scuppered their chances of a top six finish when they let Marvin Johnson score well into stoppage-time. Lionel Ainsworth's scooped shot on 62 mins beat Owain Fon Williams and put Motherwell into the lead. Keith Lasley fouled on Ross Draper to give the home side a penalty on 70 mins. This was converted by Iain Vigurs. However, Johnson clinched it for the Steelmen with a dramatic counter-attack goal on 94 mins.

Manager John Hughes: "We have lost too many goals late in games this season... We need to look at ourselves in the mirror and go out and win every game to the end of the season now. The boys work hard and they dominated the game but we keep beating ourselves as the goals we gave away were comical. If we keep doing that we are going to be right up against it. It's simple, we need to put the ball in the net more often and keep the back door shut."

Ross County 0-3 ICT FC 19th March 2016

Caley Jags failed to win any of their last seven games but they weren't going to go down to the Staggies. Ross County started well enough but two goals in five minutes took the wind out of their sails. Goals from Liam Polworth on 32 mins and Ross Draper just 5 mins later saw Caley Jags 2-0 ahead at the end of the first half. A Miles Storey volley on 48 mins sealed the victory.

Manager John Hughes: "I think we deserved it... It was all about us in terms of trying to get back to winning ways after our disappointment on Wednesday and hopefully in trying to get the points to get us up the league and in that top six. A wee bit of luck went our way... I'm absolutely delighted for the supporters that we won the match. I've seen us play better. But, on a tricky pitch, I felt we controlled the game and all credit it to them."

ICT FC 1-2 Hibernian 16th March 2016

Scottish Cup Quarter-Final Replay

When the teams last met Caley Jags managed to force a replay. This was an opportunity they failed to cash in. Two first half strikes, in the space of 5 mins, from Anthonyn Stokes put Hibs into a lead that was not overturned resulting in the exit of the Scottish Cup holders from this year's competition. Defensive lapses by Caley Jags on 36 and 41 mins resulted in the close range goals from Stokes. Iain Vigurs cut the lead on 77 mins when he knocked the ball in, again at close range, after Richie Foran headed the ball down across the goal.

Manager John Hughes: "We beat ourselves with the goals we conceded in the first half. They were very poor goals. We huffed and puffed in the second half but it was a little bit too late. It wasn't a great game but to be fair to Hibs, they probably edged it. I picked a team that would really go toe-to-toe with them, but it didn't really materialise."

Caley Jags, for the second time in four days, lose by a single goal to nil. Hamilton's winner came on 59 mins. Carlton Morris' shot went past Owain Fon Williams to go in off the post.

Manager John Hughes: "We need to get back winning games... I felt Hamilton maybe shaded it in the first twenty minutes. We had good strikes but you need to work the goalkeeper. Over the bar doesn't score you a goal. Second half it was all Inverness and they break on us and the ball ends up in the bottom corner in off the post. That's where we're at right at this moment in time - us not getting the rub of the green."

St Johnstone 1-0 ICT FC 9th March 2016

Caley Jags went down to ten men before St Johnstone scored the only goal of the match. Garry Warren was shown the yellow card twice in the space of five minutes. The second on 68 minutes resulted in a penalty as well as him being sent off. David Wotherspoon took the spot-kick only to see it saved by Owain Fon Williams. However, on 84 mins Chris Kane struck from close range giving the Saints a narrow win.

Manager John Hughes: "When you think of the players who have moved on... Add the injuries we have had this season... I don’t think many clubs could handle that yet our boys are still going. When you analyse that you have to say well done to these players because it could still be a fantastic season. We are fighting on two fronts, to finish in the top six and progress again in the Scottish Cup. Games are coming thick and fast and it’s about playing and resting, playing and resting."

Scottish Cup Quarter-Finals

A draw at Easter Road means a Scottish Cup Quarter-final replay in Inverness for the cup holders. The sides got into the second half before opening the scoring. The first came on 54 mins through Hib's forward James Keating. Caley Jags substitute Andrea Mbuyi-Mutombo brought the sides level on 77 mins blasting the ball beyond Mark Oxley into the roof of the net.

Manager John Hughes: "I felt we were the better team for the opening twenty-five minutes but Hibs' goal came when they were on top. I felt we were lacking a little bit up top but we have great team spirit and effort and I can't ask for anymore."

Hearts 2-0 ICT FC 1st March 2016

Caley Jags were a goal down at half time and were unable to make a comeback in the second half. Hearts however managed to double their lead before full time. Jamie Walker put the home side ahead on 35 mins after rounding Owain Fon Williams. A Greg Tansey pass back was pounced on by Abiola Dauda who then scored Hearts' second on 53 mins.

Manager John Hughes: “We were always in the game, but all credit to Hearts. Over the piece I don’t think we worked their goalkeeper, but I was speaking to Owain Fon-Williams and I think he had one save to make as well. But we’re better than that and that’s my biggest frustration. We were good on the ball but we need to be better going forward. We need more crosses and we need more bodies in the box. When we were doing that last year we were playing with a free spirit, so we maybe need to get back to that...”

Dundee 1-1 ICT FC 27th February 2016

Caley Jags were held to a draw after an 86 min goal from Kane Hemmings. Caley Jags had gone ahead on 13 mins. Ross Draper ran from deep to meet the ball threaded through from Jordan Roberts. He then rounded keeper Scott Bain to place the ball in the empty net. The equalizer came when Hemmings scored from close range having been set up by Gary Harkins.

Manager John Hughes: "We've got Fon-Williams to thank for making three or four wonderful saves to keep us in it. We were second to every ball and I'm happy to come away with a point. You have to be honest, I felt in the first half the two teams were nip and tuck, we played some nice stuff and got our goal. In the second half it was all Dundee. My frustration was how Dundee were getting in so easily and I'm really disappointed with the goal that we lost and how it came about. We need to defend that better.."

Gary Mackay-Steven got the first of Celtic's goals on 54 mins and 5 mins later their second came through Leigh Griffiths. Griffiths struck again to get Celtics third on 93 mins.

Manager John Hughes: "... I am a bit frustrated, but I can't ask more of my boys. I just feel for them because we played good stuff and had one or two real good chances. They passed it, Celtic knew they were in a game and it was the second goal that killed us. Even in defeat, you can take great pride and inspiration from the way we played. Caley Jags surprised everyone, except their supporters, by beating visitors Aberdeen. The Dons had been unbeaten since last October and looked to continue their run when Adam Rooney scored on 7 mins. Iain Vigurs levelled on 18 mins, exploiting a mistake by Ash Taylor. Caley Jags took the lead on 51 mins when Greg Tansey scored from the spot. The penalty was awarded after a high challenge on Ross Draper. Carl Tremarco headed in a third for Caley Jags on 65 mins. They held on to the lead to the finish, moving them back into the top six.

Manager John Hughes: "... For long parts of the game our football was very good. There was definitely a bit of luck... But there's plenty of luck went against us this season, and it's about time we carried a bit of luck. I still think there's more to come. I still want more goals from Storey, I want a wee bit more from Mutombo, you can see Jordan Roberts is going to be an influential player for us..."

Motherwell 1-2 ICT FC 6th February 2016

Scottish Cup R5

Caley Jags are through to this year's Scottish Cup quarter-finals after beating Motherwell with a winning goal in stoppage-time. Caley Jags went ahead on 39 min. Carl Tremarco drove the ball across the face of the Motherwell goal. Miles Storey failed to connect but Stephen McManus managed to turn the ball into his own net. Motherwell managed to draw level on 67 mins when Scott McDonald tapped home McManus' header. The winner came on 91 mins with an unstoppable 30 yard drive from Jordan Roberts.

Manager John Hughes: “We were always trying to get at them in the last 15-20 minutes but it was going to take something special to win it and I’m absolutely delighted that it was Jordan who got it... He needs game time but he deserves a reward for all the hard work he’s put in but he’s got that in his locker. He’d tried a few times previously to get the ball on his left foot so it was great to see it hit the net because it puts us in the hat for the next round.”

Caley Jags pick up a point and move back into the top six on goal difference. This no scoring draw was played in a challenging wind. Chances fell to Miles Storey, Andrea Mbuy-Mutombo, Iain Vigurs and Liam Polworth but none were converted. Stout defending by Partick decided the outcome of this latest meeting between the two sides.

Manager John Hughes: “In the first half, I felt we dominated the ball. Some of the football was good and we had a great chance for Miles Storey. We never created much after the break but got stronger as the match went on. It is these things that cost you. I’m honest enough to say that Miles needs a hand up there. We thought Alex Fisher would be the one but now he’s chipped a bone in his foot. We lose Marley Watkins, Billy Mckay, Ryan Christie – that wee link-up player who can unlock the door – and we’re struggling a bit in the top end. We’re looking in that department and trying to get a player of that calibre to help us along. We thought it might have been Anthony Stokes, but it wasn’t to be.”

Kilmarnock 2-1 ICT FC 16th January 2016

Caley Jags slipped back to the lower half of the table after their second defeat of the season at Rugby Park. The game was stopped, in both halves, to allow snow to be removed from the pitch ensuring that the pitch markings remained visible. These actions allowed the match to finish while elsewhere others had to be abandoned. It was Killie that were first to find the net with Greg Kiltie scoring from close range after 9 mins. Caley Jags managed to pull level just before the break with Ross Draper scoring on 41 mins. It was Killie however that found the winner early in the second half with Craig Slater's volley going in off the underside of the bar.

Manager John Hughes: "It's a very difficult one, I think it's all down to the referee. I think he did everything right in terms of stopping the match to brush the lines. My only complaint is I would have liked to have known we were going to do that before the game so you can prepare for it. But it's neither here nor there. You could see the lines, it was the same for both sides. In the last 20 minutes, it started lying a little bit heavily and made it very difficult for the ball to roll and to run with it, but Kilmarnock deserved to win the game."

Manager John Hughes: "... It was a good game, end to end. We were always on the front foot. There seems to be a real solid shape about us right at this moment. We need to be a little bit better in the final third with the link-up play. There were more goals in there but I'll take 2-0."

Caley Jags threw away a two goal lead for the second week in a row. This time, however, they managed to regain the lead in the dying seconds of the match. This gave them the points to take them back into the top six. Caley Jags went ahead on 18 mins through a Greg Tansey free-kick. Liam Polworth got the side's second on 51 mins. Carlton Morris scored Accies first on 66 mins. The sides then drew level on 81 mins through Ziggy Gordon. A second Tansey free-kick on 88 mins put Caley Jags ahead again and the match looked won. Accies had other ideas and drew level a second time, on 90 mins, through Christian Nade. However three minutes of added time followed, and in the final minute Polworth blasted the ball into the roof of the net ensuring a Caley Jags win.

Manager John Hughes: "Once again this season, for some unknown reason, we only play for 45 minutes. We sit too deep, it brings it on top of us, we think we can see it out. That's a recipe for disaster... It's a difficult venue to come and play on the plastic pitch. I'm absolutely delighted to pick up the result... You've got players in that dressing room that care. Caley Jags missed the opportunity to get into the top six after Aberdeen held them to a draw. This was after the Caley Jags established a two goal lead. They went ahead on 41 mins when Liam Polworth knocked in a Ross Draper cut back. The lead was doubled on 47 mins from a Greg Tansey penalty which saw Don's keeper Danny Ward sent the wrong way. Niall McGinn edged Aberdenn back into the game with a goal on 73 min when he took advantage of a mistake by Gary Warren. The sides were back level on 90 mins through an Adam Rooney penalty.

Manager John Hughes: "... I'm disappointed to lose a two-goal lead, but you have to give credit where it's due as it was all Aberdeen in the second half. We should have seen it out and held on, but that has been the story of our season, although that is us unbeaten in the last three games. We actually had the better chances and Miles Storey should have scored early on and done better in the second half. Caley Jags managed to grasp a share of the points after a late equaliser from Lewis Horner. United went ahead on 26 mins when John Rankin's shot hit the roof of the net. However, on 46 mins, Liam Polworth pulled the sides level. Billy McKay got his name on the scoresheet, for United, on 81 mins with what looked likely to be the winner. Horner had other ideas and brought the sides back level on 90 mins.

Manager John Hughes: "... I feel we deserved to win the game as we had enough chances to do that and I felt that we dominated the game for 90 minutes. I am honest enough to say there were times when Dundee United had a foothold in the game but they scored against the run of play. I was really disappointed with their second goal as it was self inflicted and you need to know the fundamentals of the game and what needs to be done. ICT FC 2-1 Kilmarnock 12th December 2015

Caley Jags picked up all three points after a first half double from Iain Vigurs. A late reply from Kilmarnock gave them hope, but it was not enough. Vigurs' first came after 14 mins when he took advantage of some very poor Killie defending. His second came on 32 mins when Miles Storey squared into the box. The ball was dummied by James Vincent and it fell to Vigures to knock it in. Mark Connolly scored, for the visitors, at the back post after a Kilmarnock corner was headed down to him on 87 mins.

Manager John Hughes: "Great first half performance, scored two great goals and did the business. Second half, not so good, Kilmarnock come at us, stop passing the ball, but on the counter attack I felt if we were a little more clinical in our passing then we could've scored another few goals... I thought the first-half performance was as good as we showed against Celtic for 60 minutes but once again it's not that 90-minute performance, and that's what we're looking for."

Caley Jags started well enough going ahead after only 6 mins through a Miles Storey strike. Partick however managed to level before the end of the first half when Kris Doolan beat Owain Fon Williams on 42 mins. You have to have character to see a game out and if that means taking a point then so be it. No disrespect to Partick but you'll not see a worse goal throughout Scotland than their winner - it's gut wrenching!
If we want to get to where we want to go we are going to have to be more ruthless and have a wee bit more game knowledge just to ensure we get over the line."

Motherwell 1-3 ICT FC 7th November 2015

Caleyjags managed a rare win in Motherwell allowing them to climb above Kilmarnock in the table. Greg Tansey put his side ahead on 11 mins after the referee made him retake a penalty. His initial effort was saved, but due to encroachment he had a second opportunity which he managed to put away. Miles Storey struck on 45 mins. His shot from 20 yards deflected off a Motherwell defender to beat keeper Connor Ripley. Iain Vigurs made it three on 53 mins. Motherwell replied on 58 mins when Louis Moult tapped in at the back post. They then went down to ten men in the final seconds of the match when Stephen McManus picked up a second yellow card.

Manager John Hughes: "I felt we dominated the first half, but I have to say we were maybe a bit fortunate with the opening goal with the retake. A bit of luck went our way. To get another goal early in the second half through Iain Vigurs with one from the training ground, from the corner, was pleasing. We work on that and it was a fantastic strike at his old stomping ground, so he'll be delighted with that. I was disappointed to lose the goal but it was a fantastic result for us and just what we needed right at this moment in time..."

ICT FC 1-1 Dundee 31st October 2015

Caley Jags managed to draw with Dundee through a Greg Tansey penalty on 64 mins. This levelleded the sides after Dundee went ahead on 50 mins from a Rory Loy penalty. The first penalty resulted from David Raven pulling down Greg Stewart. Raven was shown a red card for his actions. Caley Jags were awarded their penalty when Kevin Holt was judged to have fouled Ryan Christie.

Manager John Hughes: "... We need to start getting on a winning run and need to do it with the players that we've got. No excuses. I felt we dominated the game whole first half and, if we had kept eleven players on the park, we would have won the game. The sending off changed the whole dynamic of the game. It might be a little bit of luck by getting the penalty that we might be looking for just to kick start us."

ICT FC 0-1 Ross County 27th October 2015

Scottish League Cup QF

Caley Jags couldn't extend their undefeated run in Highland derbies to a seventh game. Jackson Irvine headed in for the Staggies from a Martin Woods' corner on 41 mins. The lead was doubled on 48 mins when Michael Gardyne curled the ball past Owain Fon Williams. Greg Tansey pulled one back for Caley Jags on 78 mins striking from long range. County now go through to the semi-finals.

Manager John Hughes: "We showed plenty of spirit and character and hit the post as well. Tansey got a good goal, but we gave ourselves too much to do. We need to become a little more streetwise, when to play, when not to play. I feel for them. They gave everything. What we had on the bench is all we've got. But, you're looking over your shoulder at one or two in the stand - guys like Gary Warren, Ross Draper and Richie Foran who'd revel in that but that's where we are."

ICT FC 0-1 St Johnstone 24th October 2015

Caley jags saw St Johnstone go down to ten men after 46 mins. A tackle by David Mackay showed too much studs and resulted in a red card. Caley Jags however were unable to convert this advantage to a win. A no score draw was on the cards until 2 mins into added time. A Danny Devine foul in the box resulted in a penalty which was converted by Liam Craig. The Saints picked up the three points and moved into the top half of the table. Caley Jags dropped back to ninth.

Manager John Hughes: "... We were one paced and void of creativity in the final third. [The penalty] was down to a lack of concentration and we were sucker-punched but we will learn from that. Playing against ten men for almost the whole of the second half we have to be more ruthless. We got a lot of crosses into the box but the movement was poor."

Kilmarnock 2-0 ICT FC 17th October 2015

Caley Jags were unable to extend their undefeated run to seven games. Only Killie found the net, once in either half. Greg Kiltie scored first, from 25 yards, on 45 mins. Josh Magennis sealed the victory for the home side on 66 min, beating Owain Fon-Williams from 12 yards.

Manager John Hughes: “... We lost the goal at a killer of a time, just before the half-time whistle. I thought we controlled the game in the early stages and had a few chances but then Kilmarnock grew into it and they were the much better team in the second period.”

Ross County 1-2 ICT FC 3rd October 2015

Caley Jags undertook this season's first visit to Dingewall and returned winners of the Highland derby. Miles Storey used his pace to get through the Staggies' defence on 42 mins to beat keeper Scott Fox. A Caley Jags corner soon followed allowing James Vincent the opportunity to head in on 45 mins. Liam Boyce managed to get one back on 90 mins, also heading in from a corner.

Manager John Hughes: "... Miles Storey is rapid quick. It's all credit to the chairman who came in with the name actually. Everything that a loan deal is meant to do: come up play football, stay injury free, score goals and go and take the platform. It's working for him. We were hanging in there for the last five minutes, but we've got that spirit. That's six unbeaten now and, with the injuries that we've got, I take my hat off to these boys."

ICT FC 2-1 Aberdeen 26th September 2015

Caley Jags brought Aberdeen's unbeaten run in the league this season to an end after two first half goals and excellent second half defending. Miles Storey struck after only 8 mins to put Caley Jags ahead. Ryan Christie stretched the lead on 29 mins. The Dons managed to pull one back on 35 mins through Ash Taylor. Christie was dismissed after he picked up a second yellow on 89 mins.

Manager John Hughes: "... Now we can stretch the game and it gives us a chance to get on the ball and play football. That's three goals in four games [for Miles Storey]. He's still a couple of games short of being match-fit, but he's an absolute godsend, he's fallen right into our lap and we're delighted to have him."

Scottish League Cup R3

Caley Jags progress from the Scottish League Cup third round after defeating Livingston at the Tony Macaroni Arena. Miles Storey was on hand to score the first goal when the Lions defender Morgyn Neill failed in his attempt to head back to his keeper on 12 mins. Danny Devine doubled the lead on 43 mins heading in past Darren Jamieson from a Greg Tansey free-kick.

Manager John Hughes: "... We dominated the game up until we scored the goals then stopped playing. We should have scored more goals, Dani Lopez has to be more ruthless. That's not acceptable, that should go in the net. We were good as a team tonight but I've seen us pass the ball quicker and sharper than that."

Dundee United 1-1 ICT FC 19th September 2015

It ended a point apiece after Caley Jags came from behind in the second half. United went ahead after only 7 mins through Billy McKay. A John Rankin shot was blocked but McKay was on hand to knock in the rebound. Josh Meekings brought the sides level on 56 mins when he headed in from a Ryan Christie corner at the back post. Despite a much improved second half for Caley Jags, they were unable to find a winner.

Manager John Hughes: "Bitterly disappointed especially considering where Dundee United are at this moment in time. It was about us getting the impetus and keeping the crowd quiet. Much improved second half, better team second half, and certainly deserved something out of the game. We never started at all. We never passed it, we never got on it. We asked players to be brave, we peppered their goal. We need to be at it for 90 minutes. It happened last week against Hearts and we got away with it."

ICT FC 2-0 Hearts 11th September 2015

Caley Jags get their first win of the season and keep a clean sheet in their home meeting with Hearts. Ryan Christie breached the Hearts defence on 49 mins to cut the ball back across the goal where James Vincent scored from close range. Hearts went down to ten men on 86 mins when Juwon Oshaniwa was shown the red card for violent conduct. On 89 mins, Miles Storey scored Caley Jags' second after Iain Vigurs fired a low ball across goal.

Manager John Hughes: "... I felt we were the better team in the second half. Someone mentioned we hadn't scored at Inverness this season so I'm absolutely delighted. All the fans have seen how good a player Miles Storey... is going to be for us - he looks sharp, he's quick and he's a lovely lad. And then big Silva who came on, you can see he's going to be a handful. We have been looking for these guys to stretch the game for us, because we are a good team but that is what we've been missing. The boys have given it everything since they have come back here and they deserve a little bit of luck so absolutely delighted to pick up the three points..."

Dundee 1-1 ICT FC 29th August 2015

Caley Jags were denied their first win of the season when Dundee equalised at the end of the game, in added time. Caley Jags scored their only goal of the match through David Raven on 60 mins. Dundee had a chance to draw level on 83 minutes when they were awarded a penalty after Danny Devine handled the ball. Owain Fon Williams saved Greg Stewart's shot to the bottom right corner. The equaliser came on 90 mins through Kane Hemmings. Just before the final whistle Andrea Mbuyi-Mutombo was sent off for a challenge on Nick Ross.

Manager John Hughes: "... There were a lot of fouls and it was stop-start. As for the red card, Andrea won't get away with a tackle like that these days. It would have been great for the boys to hold out - but that's what football does to you. We're bitterly disappointed. We put so much into the game only to lose a goal so late on. It's hard on the players but we can take positives from it. It's sometimes how it goes when you are in a position like us. That is where we are just now but we'll get better as the lads are working ever so hard."

Caley Jags have still to register their first win of the season and now sit joint bottom of the table with Kilmarnock. Hamilton had a comfortable win scoring twice with no reply. Carlton Morris put his side ahead on 18 mins. Louis Longridge sealed the victory on 90 mins.

Manager John Hughes: "... I felt we did enough, we could have been two or three goals up. That's where we're at this moment in time, nothing's falling for us. I felt for the first 30 minutes we were very good, but 30 minutes wasn't good enough, we've got to be at it for 90 minutes. Celtic 4-2 ICT FC 15th August 2015

Caley Jags managed to score twice, at Celtic Park, after Celtic took a four goal lead. Celtic went ahead after only 8 mins when Mikael Lustig headed in from a Stefan Johansen free-kick. Their second came just 4 mins later when Leigh Griffiths also headed in past Owain Fon Williams. Celtic's third came 10 mins into the second half through Stuart Armstrong. Amstrong struck again on 69 mins to get his second of the day. Substitute Ryan Christie beat Craig Gordon on 71 mins. The lead was further reduced on 78 mins through Dani Lopez.

Manager John Hughes: "It's all about belief when you come here - you cannot be a shrinking violet. I've been in dressing rooms - it's alright running about and getting stuck in and flying into tackles. Real top players take the ball, pass it, move it, get it back, don't take an extra touch, everything you see with Celtic. We're just a little bit off it. Our season wont be judged on what happened here today, that's for sure. I'm just glad we got a little bit of pride restored. We can take spirit from that."

ICT FC 0-0 Partick Thistle 12th August 2015

Caley Jags are now three games into the season but have still to register their first win. The squad continues to be depleted, for selection options, with key players out injured. Available players are also required to play out of position. Despite this Caley Jags managed a clean sheet against Partick, a major improvement when compared to the majority of their meetings last season.

Manager John Hughes: "Some of the stuff's good on the pitch - it's that final third. I just feel we're playing more with our hearts than our heads. There's not too much wrong. We're not scoring goals, I'll admit that, and we're still working to try and rectify that, but we're not conceding goals. All credit to the boys playing out of position: Ross Draper, Danny Williams, all these guys. We're asking them to do a job for the team and they're excelling. I thought Draper was outstanding tonight, possibly one or two things he could have speeded up on. Danny Williams was possibly man of the match..."

St Johnstone 1-1 ICT FC 8th August 2015

Caley Jags picked up their first point of the season after St Johnstone scored a late equaliser at McDiarmid Park. Caley Jags had gone ahead early in the first half. On 9 mins Dani Lopez played in Ryan Christie whose 15 yard shot fired past goalkeeper Alan Mannus into the net. Caley Jags dominated most of the game and seemed to be heading for a deserved win. However, on 90 mins, Saint's substitute Graham Cummins beat Owain Fon Williams for a share of the points.

Manager John Hughes: "... I felt we were good enough to score another couple of goals. We need to be more ruthless, but that's football. No complaints about their effort and commitment. We can build on that now, that's a platform. Some of them have to get up to speed in terms of fitness."

ICT FC 0-1 Motherwell 1st August 2015

Caley Jags had no attempts on target and went down by a single goal to the Steelmen. The home squad was depleted due to injuries and the loss of last season's strikers is telling. Motherwell went ahead after 4 mins when Wes Fletcher struck after Owain Fon Williams parried Stephen Pearson's shot in his direction. On 27 mins Caley Jags conceded a penalty. Scott McDonald's shot to the corner was saved by Fon Williams. Gary Warren was taken off after 42 mins with an ankle injury. This was later confirmed to be a break.

Manager John Hughes: “Gary Warren went away in an ambulance but I don’t think there was any malice in the tackle by Stephen Pearson. It’s a massive concern. First and foremost he’s the captain. If I had eleven Gary Warrens we’d be alright. If there’s not a crack or a broken bone he’ll be playing next Saturday – he’s a warrior. We can’t feel sorry for ourselves. We just need to get on with it. Will it prompt me to make more signings? No, we don’t have the money to do that.”

Astra Giurgiu 0-0 ICT FC 23rd July 2015

UEFA Europa League - 2nd Round, 2nd Leg

Caley Jags went to Romania expecting to overcome the one goal deficit incurred during the home leg of their second round Europa League clash with Astra Giurgiu. Despite significant ball and territorial possession they were not able to beat Astra goalkeeper Silviu Lung Jr although Ryan Christie came close just before half-time. Neither side managed to find the net and Astra go through to the next round, 1-0 on aggregate.

Manager John Hughes: "I think their coach will have been surprised by our style of football. I felt tactically we were spot on. It was just that final third, that final pass, the final shot that has to be more clinical. To lose the tie over a free-kick, I'm bitterly disappointed. We just needed that goal. There were long periods of the game where you would think we were the home team. We were the better team..."

ICT FC 0-1 Astra Giurgiu 16th July 2015

UEFA Europa League - 2nd Round, 1st Leg

Caley Jags were disappointed not to secure a win against Astra Giurgiu in their Europa League second qualifying round first leg encounter. Constantin Budescu clinched the win for Astra on 24 mins through a curling free-kick that beat new signing Owain Fon Williams. The goal came against the run of play, with chances falling to Ryan Christie, Greg Tansey and Aaron Doran, but Caley Jags were unable to find the net.

Manager John Hughes: "... Very proud of the boys. The only disappointment is losing that goal. No matter what, it's a great experience for us to be playing in Europe and over the piece, we acquitted ourselves very well. I don't know how they'll play at home, I don't know if they'll go and play a different tactic, if they'll come out and open up. We don't want to go over there and the game's done and dusted in the first half. It's 90 minutes so we have to make sure we go over there and make sure the shape's right. We might have to give up a little bit of possession and we might have to play a reverse role and hit them on the counter attack."
