ICT FC 2-0 Hibernian 12th May 2012

Caley Jags scored twice to finished the season with a home win, and retained tenth place. Both goals came in the second half. Greg Tansey scored, on 62 mins, from a free kick. Not long after, Mat Doherty handled the ball and Caley Jags were awarded a penalty. Jonny Hayes then converted from the spot on 71 mins.

Manager Terry Butcher: "... We always felt we could get through them but it took more time than we thought it would. The second half was a lot better and we got a penalty, which is unusual. That's two penalties this season - both against Hibs. It's a great three points for us. It takes us to 39 points and above Hibs again, with all of their money, facilities and history."

ICT FC 0-0 Dunfermline Athletic 2nd May 2012

No goals, but Caley Jags drawing with Dunfermline ensured that they stay in the SPL for another season. Next season they will have the added pressure of ensuring that they stay ahead of Ross County.

Manager Terry Butcher: "Our objective is to be in the SPL every season. With the money we have and the geography of the place we are really up against it every season. There was pressure on the players tonight because we were tantalising close to being safe. It wasn’t pretty but it’s mission accomplished and we can be proud of the achievement.”

Two own goals from Caley Jags, at the end of each half, was enough to see Aberdeen go home with three points. On 46 mins Roman Golobart managed to head in from a Josh Magennis throw in. Then on 89 mins Jonny Tuffey saved from a Magennis strike only to see the ball rebound into the net off Kenny Gillet.

Manager Terry Butcher: "... We've not done enough to win the game and that's disappointing. The fans were booing us at the end and quite rightly. If I had of paid to watch that then I would have done exactly the same."

ICT FC 2-3 Hibernian 1st April 2012

Caley Jags had the opportunity to climb above Aberdeen and move further away from the relegation zone. It was not to be, however, as Hibs managed to breach the home defence three times. Caley Jags had the chances in the first half to get a comfortable lead but failed to finish. The first goal came from the penalty spot on 60 mins from Greg Tansey. It only took another 4 mins before Paul Hanlon headed in the equaliser for Hibs. Garry O'Conner then put Hibs in the lead when he scored on 75 mins. Jonny Hayes levelled the score on 83 mins but this was undone when Leigh Griffiths scored on 85 mins.

Manager Terry Butcher: "In some parts, we were very good, but in other parts of the game we were absolute rubbish. We gave away a soft goal at the first because Ross Tokely was not marking his man. Kenny Gillet was then at fault for the second goal and Josh Meekings the third. In the second half, we had the back-four from hell."

"... disappointed..."

ICT FC 0-1 St Johnstone 28th March 2012

Caley Jags were unable to convert a number of goal scoring opportunities which fell to Gregory Tade, Billy McKay, Richie Foran and Claude Gnakpa. A penalty awarded to St Johnstone on 41 mins resulted in Francisco Sandaza scoring the only goal of the match.

Manager Terry Butcher: "... You can't believe how disappointed I am. I thought we left the team that won on Saturday in Aberdeen and instead brought back eleven strangers. Our movement and passing were excellent against Aberdeen, but there was none of that tonight, although I felt we still had three really unbelievable chances and should have taken something from the game..."

Aberdeen 0-1 ICT FC 24th March 2012

Caley Jags returned from Aberdeen with three vital points. The single goal of the game came when Billy McKay beat keeper Jason Brown and set up Gregory Tade in front of goal after 10 mins. Josh Meekings was red carded on 58 mins. This allowed the Dons to pile on the pressure but they were unable to break the Caley Jags' defence.

Manager Terry Butcher: "... That was one of the most satisfying performances of my managerial career. Every single player played his part and we deserved to win..."

ICT FC 1-1 Kilmarnock 10th March 2012

Roman Golobart scored the only goals of the match, one for each side. His first, a badly executed backward scissor-kick beat Ryan Esson on 31 mins. However, he recovered the situation from close range on 83 mins.

Manager Terry Butcher: "... How many chances did we have today? Probably about 20. Not so much clear-cut chances, but we scored one goal. That ratio does not work in football. The really good thing is that we are making the chances and, like I say, we domintaed the game. However, for us not to get three points in this game's an absolute travesty."

ICT FC 1-4 Rangers 26th February 2012

Rangers comfortably defeated Caley Jags as they were allowed to put four past Ryan Esson. Steven Davis put Rangers ahead after only 6 mins. This was followed by Sone Aluko on 16 mins. The third came from Andrew Little after 36 mins. Steve Williams gave Caley jags a lifeline when he scored on 40 mins. However, there was no revival and Rangers added to their lead when Lee McCulloch scored on 72 mins.

Manager Terry Butcher: "... We had a bright five minutes and that was about it and then Rangers have got the goal and then the second goal and we have just fallen apart. We have a lot of work to do this week to get them back to any level of performance that we require and demand at this club..."

Dunfermline Athletic 1-1 ICT FC 18th February 2012

Caley Jags shared this week's points with the Pars after a fairly even contest. Despite some good play in the first half Caley Jags conceded a goal just before half time. On 45 mins a Martin Hardie free-kick struck the bar. It wasn't cleared and Joe Cardle finished for Dunfermline. The Pars put on a better show in the second half. However, after 73 mins Nick Ross levelled the sides when he forced home a Jonny Hayes cross.

Manager Terry Butcher: "... There was no anxiety. I wanted us to play the way we can and while we didn't quite do that, we scored a good goal and done well. The character was pleasing but the performance wasn't at the usual standard. When we did get going, we played well, but it didn't happen enough and it was two points dropped."

Celtic 1-0 ICT FC 11th February 2012

Caley Jags met Celtic for the second week in a row, this time with Celtic on home ground. Again Celtic were the winners, this time scoring the game's single goal. Joe Ledley tapped in a James Forrest cross on 16 mins. Caley Jags gained an advantage when Daniel Majstorovic was red carded on 59 mins. They failed to exploit the situation which lasted until parity was restored when Steve Williams is sent off on 77 mins.

Manager Terry Butcher: "... Celtic were down to 10 men before Steve was sent off and we will never have a better chance of winning a match at Celtic Park. We didn't create enough clear cut chances but we did have chances to score. Nick Ross had two good opportunities and a little bit more belief was required. I'm gutted we didn't get something from the game because the lads put so much into it."

Scottish Cup 5th Round

Caley Jags failed to progress past the fifth round of the Scottish Cup after their home encounter with Celtic. Georgios Samaras put Celtic ahead on 33 mins. They then doubled their lead on 67 mins. Scott Brown scored from the spot after David Proctor brought down Gary Hooper inside the box.

Manager Terry Butcher: "I can't describe how disappointed I am... I'm disappointed we didn't turn up today. We should be giving Celtic a better game than we did today. That was like a practice game for them today. Celtic worked harder than us and that's a bitter accusation I can level at my team. That's not what we do, nor what we're all about. We just didn't perform."

Caley Jags share the points with St Mirren after a close fought encounter. Chances, which should have been converted, fell to both teams. The second half saw the introduction of new signings Claude Gnakpa and Sam Winnall. Gnakpa came closest for Caley Jags when his shot hit the post seconds after his appearance on the field.

Manager Terry Butcher: " ... I'm not disappointed with the draw. We kept a clean sheet and it's another match unbeaten, so momentum is still there with us."

Manager Terry Butcher: "... We changed the side around, seven changes. The more the game went on, the more the understanding came. Their attitude was spot on. They rallied for each other, helped each other. The crowd were brilliant to us as well. For me, there was only one team that wanted to win the game and that was us..."

ICT FC 1-1 Dunfermline Athletic 7th January 2012

Scottish Cup 4th Round

Caley Jags, down to ten men, were presented with a Get Out Of Jail Free card 5 mins into added time by Pars' keeper Chris Smith. The selfless act ensures a further opportunity for Caley Jags to progress via a replay at East End Park. On 28 mins Kenny Gillet was shown a straight red card after Andy Barrowman was brought down on the edge of the box. The resulting free-kick was parried away by Jonny Tuffy but was then headed into the net, by Barrowman, putting the Pars ahead on 29 mins. When all seemed over, late into added time, Smith miskicked a clearance. Jonny Hayes made the most of the situation, latched onto the ball and sped on to deposit the ball into the unguarded net.

Manager Terry Butcher: "I hope that is a real turning point for the players now. If we hadn't got something from the game it would have been the biggest travesty ever in football. Even with ten against eleven the boys gave it everything that they possibly could... We feel fortunate still to be in the cup because we didn't score until late, but I feel that we should be in the draw because of the amount of effort they put in with ten men... Thankfully it was Jonny Hayes that was able to capitalise upon the mistake. His pace definitely got him through there to put it in the net..."

Jonny Hayes levelled for Caley Jags on 41 mins. Despite a strong first half Caley Jags were unable to maintain the threat through the second half and find a winner.

The lead was doubled 5 mins later from a low drive from Gregory Tade. Aberdeen struck back on 76 mins when Rory Fallon scored from close range. Despite presure from Aberdeen, Caley Jags held on to the three points.

Manager Terry Butcher: "It would have been a perfect Christmas had we won 2-0, but you can't have everything... I thought we deserved it. We held on well and for the first hour, there wasn't much in the game... it was difficult conditions, but we have those kind of weather situations all the time up here."

ICT FC 2-3 Dundee United 10th December 2011

Caley Jags surrended a two goal lead, and the opportunity to move away from this season's bottom clubs. Dundee United were struck an early blow when Jonny Hayes scored in the second minute. Caley jags doubled the lead at the start of the second half when Hayes set up Billy McKay on 47 mins. United soon pulled one back when substitute Jonny Russell scored on 51 mins. They then drew level after a Roman Golobard own goal on 64 mins. The winner was then scored on 78 mins, again by Russell.

Manager Terry Butcher: "I find it hard to believe what happened. We have caved in, there's no doubt about that. We've allowed three goals to go in that really were very poor defensively... I'm in total disbelief... it's one of those games where you'll keep looking at it and looking at it and saying, how did we lose that? It's been a disaster day because it looks as though Chris Hogg's knee is gone. That's a horrific blow for him and us."

Much to everyones' relief and delight Samaras made a rapid recovery and did not reqire medical help. Celtic then went on to score two second half goals from Anthony Stokes on 61 and 72 mins.

Manager Terry Butcher: "There's no way it's a red card... It's the same old story. It happens because referees are rushed into making decisions. If they just step back and look at it then they'd realise it's not a red card. I'm bitterly disappointed..."

ICT FC 2-3 Motherwell 29th October 2011

Caley Jags put in a determined effort to get off the bottom of the table but defence weaknesses allowed Motherwell to take all three points. On 4 mins Caley Jags went ahead when David Davis' curling shot beat keeper Darren Randolph. Sustained effort from Caley Jags resulted in a number of scoring opportunities that were not conveted. The teams reached half time level after Shaun Hutchinson's header beat Ryan Esson. Caley Jags briefly regained the lead when Andrew Shinnie scored on 76 mins. Just 90 secs later Keith Lasley replied for Motherwell. They then sealed the points from a Tom Hateley free kick on 87 mins.

Manager Terry Butcher: " We were rampant. We dominated both halves, they scored from three efforts, we've had a laughable sending-off and we haven't got anything from the game.It was our best performance of the season by a mile and we've got nothing from it. We've played a lot worse than that and won. We have dominated a team that is second in the league. We should have won this match comfortably."

ICT FC 1-1 Dunfermline Athletic 22nd October 2011

Caley Jags planned to climb above the Pars, with a home win, to get off the bottom of the table. A cross into the box by Richie Foran on 33 mins was met by the head of Gregory Tade. Keeper Paul Gallacher was beaten and Caley Jags took the lead. However, the sought after win was not forthcoming and the Pars equalized. David Proctor fouled Liam Buchanan in the box. Buchanan then scored from the resulting penalty on 86 mins.

Manager Terry Butcher: " ...We just didn't get going for some reason. We had control of the game when we scored and at the beginning of the second half I thought lets go on and get the second goal. But, the more the game went on the more Dunfermline grew in belief. I think a neutral would say a draw was the fair result but when you go 1-0 up and you concede in the manner that we did it's extremely disappointing... We're conceding almost two goals a game and that's not good enough."

Manager Terry Butcher: "I have no complaints about the result, massive complaints about the performance. We never really got going. I said at half-time that it wasn't like us, to go out and show how we can play. We had a lot of possession, but we didn't create anything. We could still be playing there on Monday and Tuesday and still couldn't score... Full credit to St Johnstone, they defended really well."

Andrew Shinnie brought the sides level on 31 mins with the support of Richie Foran. On 78 mins Shinnie struck again. This time the ball came off the post to be deflected off Gregory Tade back into the net.

Manager Terry Butcher: "... We made some wonderful chances, with one-on-ones against the keeper and we missed a whole host, then we get a lucky break. The boys are debating which part of Gregory's body the ball hit because it just hits him on the line and goes in... We played well, even at 1-0 down I thought the lads kept their heads and passed it well. We wanted to be courageous because a four point deficit can be a bit daunting at this stage of the season..."

ICT FC 0-2 Rangers 13th August 2011

Caley Jags defence showed improvement this week, denying Rangers the opportunity of scoring any goals from open play. Two penalties however ensured that no points were picked up this week. The two goal defeat was not the worst score of the day in the SPL. The first penalty was awarded, on 60 mins, after a Ross Tokely tackle on Steven Naismith saw Tokely get a red card. The penalty was taken by Nikica Jevavic who had no problem beating Ryan Esson. Tom Aldred's contact on a fragile Dorin Goian, inside the box on 68 mins, resulted in a second spot kick. This time Esson parried Jevavic's shot away from goal. However, it went into the path of an advancing Maurice Edu who had no problem putting the ball into the net.

Manager Terry Butcher: "... We had a game plan we were sticking to and we were building up to a good climax. Then, bang, the ref sends my player off - a double whammy. They scored, we were down to 10 men. While we didn't play anywhere near what we would like to or can do, we're still playing well. It always comes back down to penalties at the end of the day and I was pleased with the way we went about our task. We were very much in the game and one decision has killed it for us."
